Morris Bright has been leader of Hertsmere Borough Council for 13 years, having first been elected in 1999. He has also been an elected member of Hertfordshire County Council since 2009.
Morris is Chairman of the Board of Directors at Elstree Studios - the only studios in the country owned by a local authority.
Morris has worked as a journalist – both as writer and broadcast journalist – for 30 years. He has written and co-authored many books, one of which ranked within The Times newspaper's Top Ten bestsellers for four weeks.
Morris continues to write and produce features and acts as a freelance consultant in film, television and other media and is a guest broadcaster on British television and radio.
Morris is a member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
In 2018 Morris was awarded an MBE by the Queen for his services to local government.
