The Astley Cooper School originally built to serve the Hemel Hempstead New Town Development will benefit from a major re-building project funded jointly by Hertfordshire County Council and Department for Education. The project will see the replacement of a number of teaching spaces, the re-modelling of the school campus to meet the current needs and delivery of education.
As part of the project the school will benefit from a brand new swimming pool which will play host to a number of local swimming groups and is the only maintained school in the area to have such a facility.
Speaking after the launch of the project by the appointed contractors, Terry Douris, said ‘I am delighted that we have been able to incorporate the swimming pool into the design of this exciting development. The school has been making great advances and these new facilities will enable the school to offer great education in modern surroundings.
